Wyedean Rally Press Release

Callum Black Wyedean Rally Press Release

Last weekend saw Callum Black embark on his 2010 rally campaign as he looked to attack the Forest of Dean, Wyedean Rally in his brand new MG ZR S1400.

With a brand new car, in which Callum had only driven on and off the trailer, Callum looked to make a mark on the BTRDA series with an aim to go one better than 2009, and win the Millers Oil 1400 championship.

Callum had a steady start, adjusting to the new car and set up, and with intercom problems in the opening stages, he was not at his normal pace. After several teething problems with the new car in the morning, Callum was sat just inside the top 10 at service, much to his disappointment. Meanwhile, in 586 Sports sister MG ZR, Matt Edwards was in an impressive 2nd place in the 1400 category.

Callum knew that it was important to get miles under his belt and secure points on the board, so drive for the finish. Callum improved his stages times and moved up to 6th 1400, and 3rd 1400 registered. Meanwhile team mate Matt Edwards finished 3rd 1400 and 2nd registered in Callums improved 2009 car.

At the end of the day, Callum commented:

“I’ve had a really enjoyable day, being back behind the wheel after a few months out. It was important for us to get the miles under our belt, for both myself and the new car. I was a little disappointed with our opening stage times, but after looking at the car, understanding why the car was handling how it was, I’m happy with the performance we put in today. The steering rack was loose, the intercom didn’t help with my confidence and the engine fumes coming in the car wasn’t a great help, but the important aspect is, it all adds to my experience. 3rd in the BTRDA is a good start, considering I came 12th last year and finished 2nd in the championship. I will certainly look to push on the Malcolm Wilson and get back up to speed, a top 3 would be nice! It is great to have two 586 Sports MG’s in the top 3 of the championship – It would be great to have a 1, 2 in the future.”

Callum is now lying:

3rd in the Millers Oil 1400cc championship

2nd MG ZR

3rd BTRDA Junior Driver
